Kyouken is Japanese for ‘Mad-dog’, ‘Humility’, ‘Modesty’ and ‘Robust Health’ – all too fitting for this club.
Michael ‘Mad-Dog’ McGarry’s club has been in Andover now for nearly 20 years and there’s no sign of it slowing down!
Mike’s a 7th Dan Coral Belt in Japanese Jujitsu and a Purple Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
He has taught hundred of students over the years and has taught the likes of Liam McGeary – Bellator Light Heavyweight Champ, Mike ‘Gip’ Cutting – (featured on Bellator, Bamma, Into The Cage, Raged UK, Rage in a Cage and much more, also 2 x WCJJO World Champion and much more), Alexei ‘Boom’ Roberts (featured on Bamma, into the cage champ, Southampton’s hardest winner, shock n awe champ…and tons of other MMA Promotions), Adam Phillips (4 x AMA National Gold Medallist, GB Squad WCJJO 3 x silver medallist and much more!), Jessi McGarry (WCJJO World Champion, 3 x WCJJO Silver medallist and much more!) …
Mike is not short or a few champions in his club.
He also recruited the amazing Trevor Birmingham who has won or medalled at almost every international IBJJF competition!
