On the 2nd April 2023 – Llanelli Leisure Centre Plays host to the first GBJ Welsh Open. The Welsh Nationals is a spin off from our very successful GREAT BRITAIN JUJITSU NATIONALS, held back in June 2022.

The Welsh Jujitsu Nationals, have partnered up with The West Wales Open. West Wales Open run BJJ events. This means we can offer the option to participate in 3 different competitions in one day. We hope you agree – will give great value to competitors on the day. It will also showcase other martial arts competition formats to competitors and clubs who attend.

The directors and performance coaches from our federation will be in attendance. We will be keeping an eye out for any talent and offer options to try out for the GB squad.

The event will have 3 elements, IBJJF Grappling,JJIF Ne Waza and JJIF Sports Jujitsu. All rules can be found on our website https://gbjj.co.uk – simply head to ‘Rules’ and for the BJJ competition the IBJJF website: https://ibjjf.com

This will be a qualifying event for the JJIF World Championships. To fight in the JJIF world tournament, you need to rack up enough points. Winning this event or placing in the event will score against your JJIF scorecard.

Weigh-ins will be on the day and you can weigh in on arrival to allow you to have time to make weight and have time to refuel before your match if needed – Weigh ins are with GI and belt on.
